Albuquerque Trap Club's Flying Boxcar
From the late 1940s into the mid to late 1950s, the Air Force Operated C-119 cargo planes known as Flying Boxcars.
On Monday, March 10, 2025, the Albuquerque Trap Club created our own "Flying Boxcar."
It may not be as big or as fast as the
C-119, but it's FLYING.
The boxcar has been a fixture at the Trap Club since sometime in the 1950s. No one at the club knows just when it was acquired. It has been used to store clay targets for around 70 years. However, with the new building constructed by the NM Game and Fish Department, there was no longer a need to keep the boxcar, so it has been moved off our site.
Shown below are more photos showing how our boxcar "flew" away. This was a major effort that took heavy equipment and real pros doing the work.
Landing on the runway (oops) on the trailer.
Down the road it goes. Farewell old boxcar.
